My Mission

If I have piqued your interest enough to make it this far, all I can say is, YES, WE DID IT! Now, let me tell you a little bit about how all this came about.

After I graduated college, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life (surprise, surprise). I knew I wanted to help people and I knew my skillset was very specific, so I needed to figure out how those two ideas worked together. Well, as it always goes, I applied for jobs and took the first one I got because you have to make money when you are an adult, but this need to help people has lingered. That was 3 years ago. Here I am, still wanting to help and feeling like I am not doing enough, then the idea was born... What if I create a blog, use my writing skills and talk about my life experiences with diabetes, without making it sound like I will drop dead at any moment (Possible, but unlikely). So HERE WE ARE. I have created a blog called Day and Night Diabetic, because contrary to popular belief, we do not get time off. We deal with this disease all day everyday, 365 days a year. Even if you have forgotten someone is diabetic, I guarantee you, they have not.

What is the overall goal and mission, you ask? Well, I want to create a community of type 1 and 2 diabetics, parents with children who are diabetic, caretakers and people just generally interested in the life of a diabetic, hopefully showing everyone what it is like and how we deal with it everyday. I will hit on topics like what the differences is between type 1 and 2. How we navigate lows and highs. What is it like thinking about it constantly, all day, without anyone else knowing. I am here to pull back the curtain and create a safe space for all of you to feel understood and supported.

With 2020 coming to a close, I think we have all realized what it feels like to be isolated. To feel this burden of a disease that already takes so much from us, and could possibly take more, if we aren’t careful. To deal with the anxiety Covid-19 has given us and let each other know, you are not alone. We are all feeling it, so lets stick together!

If you are interested in everything above, follow this account on Instagram. Send in questions, concerns and things you are having problems with. Whether you are newly diagnosed or, like me, have been dealing with it for almost 20 years, there is a place for you here and you are always welcome!

Welcome to the community!
